Marcia, Marcia, Marcia…

The region we called home for 12 years, and still hold very close to our hearts, is facing a monster cyclone tonight.

Severe Tropical Cyclone Marcia is due to make landfall at 9am Friday 20th Feb near the homes of many of my loved ones; friends and family alike. She is currently packing “sustained winds near the centre of 195 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 270 kilometres per hour” (source: Australian Bureau of Meteorology) making her a high-end category 4. She is tipped to spin up to a category 5 later tonight.

There is even a chance of the cyclone maintaining enough ferocity as she travels south to be a category 1 as it passes within kilometres of our current home. We’re as ready as we can be, but our thoughts are with those to the north.

To everyone in her flight path, be strong & be safe, be calm & prepared. You are in our hearts.

AWB xo
